About South County Ridge
Welcome to the South County Ridge, a local newspaper covering southern Orange County, California, including the communities of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, and Ladera Ranch. We also cover statewide, national, and international stories of interest to our readers.
South County Ride launched in May 2026. Founder and Publisher Shawn Geddes noted a lack of robust local news coverage from existing newspapers and news sites, so he decided to launch the South County Ridge to fill the gap.
In full disclosure, our staff does use AI to research and write some of our stories. This allows us to scale up and provide more news coverage than we could otherwise generate. All stories are fact-checked and human edited, and we provide sources where appropriate.
Thank you for reading!
